So you’ve got an electric car. Or you’re about to. Either way the accessories market for EVs has exploded and most of what’s out there is honestly not worth your time or money. But some of it genuinely changes how you experience owning an EV every single day. These are the ones that actually make a difference.
1. A Level 2 Home Charger
If there’s one thing on this list worth every single penny it’s this. If you’re still using the Level 1 charger that came in the box with your car you already know how slow it is. You wake up to a half charged battery and spend the day doing math in your head.
A Level 2 charger runs on a 240 volt outlet and charges your car up to 9 times faster than a standard wall plug. You plug in before bed. You wake up to a full charge. Every morning. Without thinking about it.

2. A J1772 to Tesla Adapter
Tesla opened its Supercharger network to other brands which is genuinely great news. But if you drive a non-Tesla EV you need the right adapter to actually plug in.
This is one of those things you don’t think about until you desperately need it on a road trip 200 miles from home. Having one in your glove box takes that scenario completely off the table. Reliable adapters run about $30 to $100 on Amazon. Get a name brand one. The cheap knockoffs cause charging errors and that’s not a headache you want on a road trip.
3. Glass Roof Sunshade
Here’s something nobody tells you when you buy an EV with a panoramic glass roof. In summer that roof turns your car into a greenhouse. The sun beats straight through the glass and your AC has to work overtime to compensate which eats directly into your range.

If you’ve got a glass ceiling over your head in a warm climate this is a practical must.
4. All Weather Floor Mats
This sounds like the boring one on the list. It really isn’t when you’re staring at mud ground into the carpet of a car you paid good money for.
The standard floor mats in most EVs are basically decorative. They do almost nothing when it’s raining or snowing or when your kid gets in with dirt caked shoes. A proper set of all weather mats with deep channels traps everything your shoes bring in and keeps it off your actual floor.

6. A Portable Car Vacuum
EVs have beautiful interiors and crumbs, pet hair and road dust genuinely don’t care about that. A good cordless handheld vacuum lives in your trunk and takes about two minutes to run through the interior.
The Baseus Portable Vacuum Cleaner on Amazon has strong suction, a washable HEPA filter, runs about 30 minutes on a single charge and is compact enough to actually store comfortably. Around $35 to $50. Way easier than dragging your car to a car wash every time someone eats in the back seat.
7. Screen Cleaner Kit
Every modern EV has a massive touchscreen. The Model Y screen is 15 inches. The Rivian screens are enormous. They get fingerprints on them constantly and a smudgy screen is genuinely distracting every time you look at it.

9. A Phone Mount

11. Center Console Organizer
The center console in most EVs is basically one big open bin that quickly becomes a dumping ground for charging cables, sunglasses, lip balm, parking tickets and everything else that somehow lives in your car. A dedicated organizer with actual compartments keeps things tidy and makes the interior feel much more put together.
Spigen and similar brands make console organizers custom fit for specific Tesla and other EV models on Amazon for about $15 to $35. If a messy console drives you crazy this is the one for you.
12. A Wireless Charging Pad for Your Center Console
Many EVs have a built in wireless charging pad but the quality varies. Some are slow. Some only charge one phone. Some older models don’t have one at all. An aftermarket wireless charging pad that fits your center console keeps your phone topped up without cables getting in the way. Options on Amazon run about $25 to $50 depending on whether you want single or dual charging and what vehicle you have.
13. A Tesla Air Mattress
Okay hear me out because this sounds like a gimmick and it is not.
Tesla’s Camp Mode turns off the engine but keeps the climate control running at whatever temperature you set. The trunk of a Model Y with the rear seats folded flat is large enough for two adults to sleep comfortably. People road trip in these things. People camp in them. People take actual overnight trips without booking a hotel.

Cars need properly inflated tires for safety and efficiency, and slow leaks or sudden temperature drops genuinely don’t care if you are in a rush. A good cordless tire inflator lives in your glovebox and takes just a few minutes to top off your tires before a commute.

Way easier than hunting down a working gas station air pump every time your low tire pressure light comes on.
The Bottom Line
You don’t need all of these. Start with whatever solves a real problem in your daily life. The home charger is the biggest game changer by far. The sunshade and floor mats are the most practically useful. The dashcam is the one you’ll be most grateful for when something actually happens.
